Porcelain Tile or Porcelain Pavers
Porcelain pavers are a hot patio trend. We especially like Belgard porcelain pavers. Outdoor porcelain pavers and tile are similar to what you might see inside, but they are thicker and more durable. They are also weather-resistant and stain-resistant. Porcelain pavers come in a wide variety of styles and sizes, allowing you to custom design an exquisite patio.
And if you have an old concrete slab that is sound, you can transform it by overlaying porcelain pavers – no need to break up and remove the old slab.
Natural Stone
A natural stone patio is a thing of beauty. No two stones are exactly alike, allowing you to obtain a custom, high-end look. And using natural materials is good for the planet as well. Depending on the look you want, flagstone, bluestone, sandstone, and other stone slabs or rocks will serve you well.
Fire Pits
Fire pits are one of our favorite patio trends. Friends and family will gather round to enjoy good conversation. You can match the stone used for your fire pit to the stone accents in your patio. Install a gas fire pit that you can operate with a smartphone app so you don’t need to worry about letting it burn out before everyone heads in for the night.
Multi-Level Patios
Remember that old concrete slab patio? One level, and that was it. Patio trends for 2020 include multiple levels. Perhaps you want a private seating area with the fire pit. You may also want another level for outdoor dining. And yet another level if your patio extends out to your inground pool. With retaining walls and stairs, multi-level patios are functional and beautiful.
Outdoor Kitchens
Outdoor kitchens are a trend of their own, but they are also a patio trend for 2020. Plan for one seamless, cohesive look. You can achieve this by incorporating some of the same patio stone in your outdoor kitchen. Also trending are outdoor fireplaces with pizza ovens.
