The cooler temperatures of fall are here, and that means it’s time to switch up the menu a bit. We all have our summertime favorite recipes, using fresh-caught fish or fresh veggies from the garden or farmer’s market. A lot of the time it’s lighter fare, because of the heat of the Maryland summer. But we’re officially in autumn now, so we thought we would share some of our favorite fall recipes.
We asked our team for their favorite recipes and got a variety of answers ranging from meats to poultry to veggies to pizza! Granted, some of these recipes you could do year-round, but some of the heavier meals are definitely better suited to cooler weather.
Here’s what they said:
Grilling means good times, good friends, and hopefully, great food.” ~Bobby Flay
You’ll notice most of our favorite recipes involve grilling. Fall is the optimal time for grilling, especially grilling or smoking meats that take a long time, such as that mouth-watering brisket Sean likes. A pizza oven in your outdoor kitchen is, of course, perfect for pizza lovers like Andy.
Thankfully, there’s no need to worry about getting hot and sweaty as you tend the grill. You might even need a sweater.
So, be sure to utilize your outdoor kitchen this autumn. And in the fall, your family may be more inclined to hang out outside while you grill, instead of hanging out in the pool, or inside in the air conditioning. Enlist their help in chopping vegetables or preparing skewers.
Get the family together outside by lighting a fire in the fire pit or outdoor fireplace. Both are natural gathering spots. You can also break out some yard games, such as cornhole or a ring toss game using a hula hoop and pumpkins – you’d be surprised how fun it is!
The team here at LiveWell Outdoors is like a family. We may disagree on some things, but we all agree that good food and good conversation are essential to keeping us bonded together. We wish you a healthy and happy fall season!
And don’t hesitate to call us if you’re ready to upgrade your outdoor living area. We’d love to help!
